Spring Dance
(A Narnia Poem)
Wander into the woods of Narnia
When the trees begin to bud
When the snow begins to melt
And the sun shines warm above
Do you see her standing there
By the tree, near the hollow
Standing, softly, with a smile
Beckoning for you to follow
Do not be afraid, go to her
It's not into a trap she lures
There is no need for caution or fear
She is gentle, she is pure
A dryad of the wood
The spirit of a tree
And she calls for you
To come see the dance of spring
For every year in Narnia
When the trees are in full bloom
A dance is held in the meadows
Till the rising of the moon
Feel felicity, feel the joy
As they dance and sing
Praising Aslan in dance and song
For the coming of the spring
See them twirl, see them spin
See the dryad's hair flow
Hear the music of the fawns
Feel the soft wind blow
Sweetness fill the air
New life, new hope, new love
SOng of flowers that will bloom
SOng of trees tha bud
Winter may last long
But it will come to an end
Snow will thaw, disappear
Spring at last will descend
Come! See the dance, hear the song
Happy, joyful, playful, free
Come! The Narnians invite you to join
The annual dance of Spring
just a small corner of my busy life where I take a break and write some poetry, if you like, you can stop by and read some. I hope you will enjoy it

Naptime Prayer
I wrote this for my niece while I was putting her down to sleep for her nap
Naptime Prayer
Thank you dear kind Lord
For the morning that passed
Please bless and watch over me
As I lay down for my nap
Help me close my little eyes
And fall asleep real soon
Keep me safe as I rest
During this hour of noon
Naptime Prayer
Thank you dear kind Lord
For the morning that passed
Please bless and watch over me
As I lay down for my nap
Help me close my little eyes
And fall asleep real soon
Keep me safe as I rest
During this hour of noon

A Star
A Star
She is soft, her light is gentle
Glowing with a tender flow
Like a candle's constant flicker
Shining down on earth below
Flame of white, warm and soft
Filled with goodness, filled with love
Ever constant, ever steadfast
Shining, shining high above
A star, small maybe
And in this we find an irony
Blacker, darker grow the night
Richer, fuller grows her light
She is always, always there
Never fading cold or dim
Only we down here below
At times lose sight of her within
Yet, whether we see her or not
Forever she is in the sky
Though all around her will fall away
She will remain, the last to die
Long ago she was created
A gift to mortals here below
Lit to chase away despair
And given the name Hope
She is soft, her light is gentle
Glowing with a tender flow
Like a candle's constant flicker
Shining down on earth below
Flame of white, warm and soft
Filled with goodness, filled with love
Ever constant, ever steadfast
Shining, shining high above
A star, small maybe
And in this we find an irony
Blacker, darker grow the night
Richer, fuller grows her light

Long ago she was created
A gift to mortals here below
Lit to chase away despair

Master or Slave
Master or Slave
Although I cannot walk or fly
Yet traveled the whole world have I
My master? They say it is the race man
And to him most faithful subject I am
But the history of the world I have read
And tell me, who has this folly said
For down through the centuries you’ll see
Man will do anything to get me
For me, it seems he will cheat any day
And lie, and kill and even betray
And to this day I do behold
How for me he roams the globe
And to obtain me, his ultimate goal
Man is willing to sell his soul
Man my master? That I cannot say
For more often than not, man is my slave
Although I cannot walk or fly
Yet traveled the whole world have I
My master? They say it is the race man
And to him most faithful subject I am
But the history of the world I have read
And tell me, who has this folly said
For down through the centuries you’ll see
Man will do anything to get me
For me, it seems he will cheat any day
And lie, and kill and even betray
And to this day I do behold
How for me he roams the globe
And to obtain me, his ultimate goal

Man my master? That I cannot say
For more often than not, man is my slave

The Siren
The Siren
A voice sweeter than that of honey
A voice putting nightingales to shame
A song that sweeps across the ocean
And softly, gently calls your name
A figure fit for a goddess
Beauty one could not describe
A smile that melts your soul
Enchantment calling from those eyes
One song and you’re her captive
One look, you're no longer you
Beware, oh traveling sailor
That song is evil, that beauty cruel
Charms that mask deceit
Grace that covers spite
Innocence that hides the motive
Of a heart, black as night
Promises, promises are all lies
Poison in a sugar wrap
Leading you, unsuspecting
Into a carefully woven trap
Many a sailor sealed his fate
Following the voice of a beauty unknown
Many a ship was crashed and wrecked
Upon the rocks that form her throne
Yes, her hair is like molten gold
And her eyes are emerald green
Yes, she tempting, yes, she's charming
Yes, she's pretty, yes, she sings
Oh, to you she becomes everything
Long dreamed of, long desired perfection
Pray, beware! For you to her;
Are but another wreck she'll add to the collection
A voice sweeter than that of honey
A voice putting nightingales to shame
A song that sweeps across the ocean
And softly, gently calls your name
A figure fit for a goddess
Beauty one could not describe
A smile that melts your soul
Enchantment calling from those eyes
One song and you’re her captive
One look, you're no longer you
Beware, oh traveling sailor
That song is evil, that beauty cruel

Sunday Stay
Sunday Stay!
Sunday, please don't end
Away with the sun don't run
I wish I could make you understand
How I don't want Monday to come
Oh how I wish you wouldn't leave
Can't you somehow just stay
Don't you have the power
To make Monday just keep away
Perhaps it's wrong for me to want this
Perhaps it's as silly as can be
But I can't help from wishing
That you would keep Monday away from me
Do you have the power to remain
And yet have time still move
Oh I know this doesn't make sense
But still, how I wish you could
Oh how I wish you wouldn't leave
Can't you somehow just stay
Don't you have the power
To make Monday just keep away
Perhaps it's wrong for me to want this
Perhaps it's as silly as can be
But I can't help from wishing
That you would keep Monday away from me
Do you have the power to remain
And yet have time still move
Oh I know this doesn't make sense
But still, how I wish you could

September
Poem in honor of the first month of Autumn that started today :)
September
September, first month of autumn
Summer has come to a close
With a last look, a last breath
Away with the wind she goes
September, first month of Autumn
Leaves begin turning to gold
The wind so warm and gentle
Begins it's change to cruel and cold
September, first month of Autumn
There is still warmth in the air
Yet not long will it stay
This knowledge hangs in the air
September, first month of Autumn
A time when earth's color transforms
A time it tires from the green
And thinks that red is better worn
September, oh September
A month that hails colors
Bright sunsets, shorter days
Rain and lots of puddles
September
September, first month of autumn
Summer has come to a close
With a last look, a last breath
Away with the wind she goes
September, first month of Autumn
Leaves begin turning to gold
The wind so warm and gentle
Begins it's change to cruel and cold
September, first month of Autumn
There is still warmth in the air
Yet not long will it stay
This knowledge hangs in the air
September, first month of Autumn
A time when earth's color transforms
A time it tires from the green
And thinks that red is better worn
September, oh September
A month that hails colors
Bright sunsets, shorter days
Rain and lots of puddles
